My journey at Orangetheory Fitness began as a weight loss journey, but it has become so much more than that. At Orangetheory Melrose, I became part of such a supportive and loving community. I've made amazing friends with the staff and mostly importantly the coaches. I've lost over 30 pounds and to be honest, I haven't ever weighed myself because the number was never important for me. I might not be the "thinnest”, but I am the happiest, strongest, and most healthy/fit that I've ever been in my life.
Being a part of Orangetheory has given me so much confidence -- confidence I never knew I even had. I've gone to so many other studios, but I've never felt like I was part of a community or that the coaches and staff actually cared. At OTF, you get all of that and more. I ran my first 10K within 3 months of starting OTF and I ran all of it. Never in my life did I like running or think I could actually run 6.2 miles straight. In the summer of 2017, I injured my back and had to limit my workouts. I couldn't run on the tread, so I used the bike; I couldn't life heavy weights or jump; so, I was given alternate exercises.
"It took almost 6 months to fully recover from my injury, but I am so glad that OTF had my back (literally)."
I was able to still feel good about myself even though I had to modify my workout drastically. I was so happy to get back on the tread and back to normal exercises.
Life went on, but at the end of the year I suffered a huge loss in my life -- I lost my father. It's been a very hard time, and honestly if I hadn't gone to the studio like I regularly do, I wouldn't have been able to get through it. It's still pretty recent, but I wouldn't have been able to go to class 5 times a week without the support of the staff and coaches at Orangetheory Fitness. I will be forever grateful for them. It's been 1.5 years at OTF and my fitness journey has no end in sight.
